About Steps the Studio
Our Story
Steps the Studio is a locally owned and operated dance studio that is dedicated to sharing the joy of the art of dance with children ages three and up. Our primary focus is to provide a quality education in multiple dance disciplines through technique, knowledge, and performance ability. We strive to create and maintain a comfortable, yet challenging learning environment for each and every style of learning in order to cater to each and every individual. At steps your child will receive the necessary instruction and training that will allow them to progress and flourish while having a blast!
Our Staff
Julie Moran
Artistic Director
Julie is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. She obtained her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography with a minor in Psychology. Much of her studies have included professional performance and technical training, dance composition, artistic development, teaching strategies, and the art of creating an effective and challenging learning environment. Ms. Moran has studied the major disciplines of dance, including ballet, modern, jazz, tap, lyrical, and improvisation. Ms. Moran has studied and performed a variety of modern dance techniques including Graham, Humphrey, and Cunningham with a major emphasis on ballet and modern. She has also studied under many artists including Shapiro and Smith Dance Company, Trebien Pollard, Sarah Carlson, Urban Rush Women Dance Company, Ray Schwartz, Diane Stroo, and Mark Heim to name a few. Ms. Moran currently resides in Madison, Mississippi. Ms. Moran has professionally instructed dance throughout the metro area and in numerous states across the country for many years. Ms. Moran founded Steps the Studio, School of the Performing Arts in 2008.
